Feed the Children - Epitome of Selflessness

Feed The Children continues to extend a helping hand to the world’s needy by providing food, clothing and other essentials to people who have been victims of poverty, war, famine and disaster. As the organization observes their 30th anniversary this year 2009, they will be doing what they have always done from the start: selflessly supplement necessities to the less fortunate.

Feed The Children is a Christian, nonprofit charitable organization. From a humble beginning, it has grown to be one of the world’s biggest private organizations. Currently, they rank seventh among all of the US’ biggest charities. In 2008, the organization distributed 133 million pounds of food and other necessities to children and families across the United States and in 34 countries around the world, providing food good for over 760,000 meals per day. Likewise, they donated over 200,000 backpacks of school materials and food to homeless children in public schools of the US.

The international programs of Feed The Children are centered on giving food, medical care and emergency relief. In Africa, the organization provides 160,000 meals per day with their school feeding programs. One of their recent programs is the Frances Jones Abandoned Babies Children opened in Nairobi, Kenya.
