Why does love drive people crazy?

    January 4th, 2009

If you talk to two persons - one who has never felt love, and other who is deeply in love, you will find them talking in a very different way. If you were to ask the person who has never loved about what he/she felt about the other’s talk, the answer will be -crazy!

Is it true? Does love drive one to madness? It may not be madness as understood by psychiatrists, but a madness of emotions. Am I right? Why does love do that? To understand this, we have to explore more about love or romance. Is it friendship? Is it physical attraction/ is it liking for each other? What is love and what is this relationship all about? Love combines all these and goes much beyond in bonding. Lovers are bonded to each other emotionally and totally. A lover can not imagine of life without his/her beloved. A lover will suffer like a fish suffers without water , if he/she is separated from the beloved. Love becomes the whole life. Love gives life. Love becomes the reason of life. Life begins and ends with love. That is love. And that’s why people call love mad!

How and why a lover feels like this for beloved is beyond any logical explanation. There is no arithmetic sum that can decide this. It is all emotional. And the emotions are so overwhelming that they engulf the whole personality. Why does a flower look lovely to all of us? Why are we attracted by the sight of a beautiful sunset? Why do we love to walk on the beach? Do we know? Can we answer these questions? Our only answer may be that - I feel happy doing it. A lover feels happy, rather so happy in love that it can not be compared with any other happiness. One forgets one’s pains, one’s pleasures and one’s existence when in love.

Fall in love and feel the madness. You will get a clue to why lovers are called mad.

    I Love Everything Now

    Lo ve overflows

    Ma d in love

    I am madly in love

Why do I love you so madly?

Can Gel Candles Help Beat The Winter Blues?

    January 3rd, 2009

Heavenly Gel Candles ( www.HeavenlyGelCandles.com ) knows that ice, snow, sleet and shoveling the walk are not ideas that are warmly embraced by a good number of folk who would rather be lounging by the balmy seas. Daydreams of the Caribbean come to their minds while they scrape the ice off of their windshield before slip-sliding on the drive to work. What can be done to help alleviate their mental burden during the coldest season of the year? Gel Candles of course!

How, pray tell, could Gel Candles bring a glimmer of hope to the winter weary masses? It’s all psychology, friends. Think positive and the battle is half won. It’s about keeping the imagination energized by thoughts of relaxing by powdery sand beaches. Did you know that there are gel candles that reflect the tropical paradise theme that many people dream about? These, in effect, can act as the shoulder to lean on during the days of winter blahs.

Here’s another thought process to consider. Imagine the summer days when you were at ease socializing with friends and neighbors by the pool or at a bar-b-que with a cocktail in hand? Remember the carefree hob-knobbing with others while enjoying either a margarita, strawberry dacquiri, martini, lemonade or a good old-fashioned mug of cold beer on a Fourth of July weekend? Doesn’t that plant the seeds of cozy warmness inside? Well gel candles with those themes can bring out those positive thought waves as well. They possess the comfy vibes to both warm the bones and lift the downtrodden spirit.

Yes, it is all in the mind but gel candles can reflect the mood that you wish to be in just by a simple gaze directed at the one that most suits your fancy. There are gel candle themes not only for beach and drinky-drinks but also with other heart warming ideas such as fine wine, fresh baked pies, malt shoppe ice cream, and even fruit preserves that may have even more therapeutic value for you. The candles also can have custom fragrances with dozens of choices from Apple Blossom to Wild Watermelon to further enhance the experience.

C’mon and snap out of your doldrums and take action! Ease your troubled mind and get acquainted with the world of gel candles. It’s a step in the right direction to live in a happier world. It’s also a lot cheaper than going to a shrink!

What My Neighbour’s Cat taught me About Communication

    January 2nd, 2009

Igor is a large, muscly Russian Blue cat that loves to sleep for most of the day, get scratched under his neck and play a short game of string (has to be short - or else he falls asleep).

When our neighbours are away at work, he likes to visit us and sleep in our front garden.

Occasionally, he likes to grace us with his presence inside our place. To ensure we look after him in the way he is accustomed to at home, he communicates clearly and consistently about what he requires.

Being the laidback cat that he is, he is not into wasting words (or meows). He always has one demand at a time and will keep at his request until we obey. We have learnt that a meow can signal any of the following: “cuddle me”, let’s play with string”, “feed me”, “let me out now!” or “can I come in?”

He supplements his meows with appropriate body language that always make it clear which of these needs must be met. When he wants a cuddle he will climb up your leg meowing and when he wants to play with string he meows then lightly paws at the stationary yarn. He will also look you right into the eyes when he wants something.

His method of communication is very simple, yet extremely effective. He has managed to teach us very quickly what he wants and his approach is always the same. And when all else fails and we appear to be ignoring him, he tears down our hallway making so much noise that we always get up to see what he wants.

We can all learn from Igor’s direct approach. His method can be used in any area of life where a message needs to be communicated: from telling your boss that you need a holiday to telling customers the benefits of your products.

In our field of creating successful promotional and training videos, Igor has reinforced to us why our videos are so good at getting a message across. This communication medium works because it:

    1. Clearly conveys one message at a time

    2. Uses visual cues to supplement the desired message

    3. Repeats the message a few times

    4. Adds interesting visual effects to grab attention.

So the next time you have an important message to convey, make sure you do the following:

    1. Communicate one message at a time

    2. Look people right into their eyes

    3. Use appropriate body language

    4. Do not give up/repeat your message

    5. Go for shameless attention-grabbing techniques if needed (optional).

Of course, Igor’s tactic only works when people take the time to find out what he wants. Which is why you should always try to get your message across to the right target audience.

But despite Igor’s excellent communication skills, there’s one thing that we just don’t understand. He likes to put his right paw on our face and hold our head still, while he delicately sucks our nose! Think we better ask his parents about that one.

Choosing The Right Shampoo For Your Hair Type

    January 1st, 2009

There are hundreds of shampoo’s out there, from the Suave you can purchase at the local pharmacy to designer shampoo’s like Kerastas and Philip B. that can only be purchased from speciality salons and stores. How do you choose?

First, know your hair type. It’s fairly easy to know what type of shampoo your hair needs if it’s permed or colored. If your hair is permed then most likely you’re seeing a stylist on a regular basis and he or she has suggested a product for you. If your hair is colored you will want a shampoo that will be gentle on the color and not strip it from your hair. Is your hair dry? Oily? Thin or full and coarse?

What affect do you want the shampoo to have on your hair? Be aware of claims made by shampoo manufacturers. The only thing regulated by the Food & Drug Administration is the list of ingredients on the back of the shampoo bottle. This means that manufacturers can claim their shampoos moisturize or add volume whether or not they do.

Herbs and botanicals smell great, but their affect on the hair has never been proven. Actually most shampoos and conditioners affect your hair only temporarily by leaving product behind on your hair after you wash. They have no long term effect on the condition of your hair at all.

Don’t believe that you have to use one manufacturers entire hair product line. It’s the same for skin care products. All shampoos clean the hair. All soaps clean the face. All conditioners leave a trace of product on your hair which help keep the cuticle smooth. All moisturizes soften and moisturize the skin. It doesn’t matter if you mix and match products, despite what they say.

Mont Blanc Grows in Volume from 2003 as Reported by Experts

    December 31st, 2008

New elaborate GPS readings acquired on the 14-15th September have proven that Monte Bianco measures 4810.4 metres. Mount Blanc is covered by a thick ice cap which has increased by 2.7 metres in not even 2 yrs however more unexpectedly the bulk of the ice has all but grown twofold . At least that is as reported by the professionals.

The bulk of snow and ice was measured for the inaugural time in 2003. It amounted to 14400 cubic metres above 4760 metres. It equaled only 13600 cubic meters in 2004 possibly due to the heat wave with plus temperature as high as 4800 meters elevation. However the ice has almost doubled since then and today numbers 24000 cubic metres.

Chamonix village’s renowned near by weather forecaster Elizabeth Hosler explained the increment in the mass of the ice cap is one of the counter intuitive consequences of global warming: Snow hasn’t grown overall in the French Alps simply with global warming we are having more warm westerly air currents that bring in rainfall at lower altitudes however during summer this results in significant snowfall that falls at higher altitude than 3900 meters elevation hence the mass bulk of the ice cap is rising. Counterpoint this to the state of affairs during wintertime when the snow crystals are extremely cold and are transported by the wind so don’t rest on the peak.

Chamonix village is not only infamous for Monte Bianco it is also a world renowned skiing field and alpinism mecca with many holiday deals and luxury chalets to be rented. And at merely one hour from Geneva airport it is unbeatable for a short break.

A Guide to Omega 3 and Depression

    December 30th, 2008

    Natural remedies for depression…

Because of the negative side-effects associated with prescription anti-depressants, many people suffering from the symptoms of mild to moderate depression are looking at natural remedies. Several studies over the last seven years have established that there is a link between Omega 3 and depression relief.

In three of these studies involving dietary supplementation of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are found in several food sources including olive oil and especially fish oil, depression was often lifted somewhat after four weeks and greatly relieved after six to eight weeks. The results of studies using both EPA and DHA were more promising than the studies which used either of these two fatty acids alone.

Depression can also be a symptom of a vitamin deficiency, particularly a dietary deficiency of the B-complex, so a multi-vitamin supplement is often also suggested as one of the natural remedies for depression in addition to fish oils.

Other natural remedies and depression relief techniques include a regular exercise program, adequate sleep, meditation and eating a balanced healthy diet, rich in fruits, vegetables (particularly leafy greens) and fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, herring and sardines.

    Fish Oil Depression

One fish that especially naturally high in crucial DHA and EPA is called the Hoki, which is native to the deep waters off of the coast of New Zealand. Hoki is used in some of the highest quality fish oil supplements.

In short, people looking for Omega 3 and depression relief may want to look into fish oils made from Hoki.

Fortunately, in recent years, much more has been written on the subject of natural remedies for depression relief, omega 3 and depression relief and the fish oil depression link. User’s Guide to Natural Remedies for Depression by Linda Knittel contains information on easing and preventing depression and advice on when to seek professional help.

Depression can be a very serious mental disorder and anyone suffering from it should seek professional advice from a physician, psychiatrist or psychologist.

Anyone who is currently taking an anti-depressant should consult their physician before trying certain herbs which are often touted for depression like St. John’s wort or SAM-e.

These natural remedies and depression medications, although effective for many, can also cause side effects. Supplements of Omega 3 and depression prescriptions are often taken at the same time, but it’s never advisable to do so unless you let your doctor know first.

How To Tell Your Family About Your Depression

    December 28th, 2008

Before you proceed with this step, decide if you need to tell them. While you are coming to grips with the idea that there is nothing wrong with being depressed, not everybody is as open-minded. Decide what your motivation is for telling them and then, if it makes sense to do so, proceed with your plan.

The best way to tell them is to decide who you need to tell and when. Also decide who will be the most supportive, these are the people to tell first. Explain to them how you have been feeling and how you are working to get better. By showing that you are making progress, you can reassure them and yourself that you are not on a downward spiral.

The next thing to do is decide how to tell the less supportive members of your family. You want to do two things here. The first is to discuss with your therapist what the best way to talk to your family is. Would it be a group session? Would it be somewhere neutral, such as a restaurant? The second is to make sure that the family member or members who know and are supportive will be present.

To tell them, make sure you start by stressing the normalcy of the condition, and you might want to tell them that it was not caused by them. It’s a process that can be compared to coming out of the closet, and you would want to make sure that in telling them, you are not harming yourself. The important thing is to remember that if nothing positive can come from telling them, then it is not worth it to do so yet.

    Excessive Exercise and Eating Disorders

    December 28th, 2008

In our society, the perceived perfect image of women falls right in line with the slenderness of girls 10 to 12 years old. This unrealistic perception spawned by the supermodels seen today in ads for popular clothing and undergarment makers such as Victoria’s secret has caused many women to become obsessed with their own images.

In our society, women are ten times more likely to develop eating disorders and compulsive exercise habits that can be life threatening and often do prove to be fatal.
Here are the most commonly developed eating disorders:

“Anorexia nervosa” is a life threatening disorder that occurs when you eat very little food and become obsessed about your weight even when you are badly underweight. An anorexic person will often see themselves as being fat when they look at themselves in the mirror even though they appear very skinny to everyone else. People with this disorder often turn to laxatives and various diet aids such as fat burning pills to bring their weight down to dangerous levels.

“Bulimia” is a disorder that occurs when you go on an eating binge, and then immediately purge it all out. You will eat a large amount of food, even junk food, and then get it all back out of your system by both self-induced vomiting and laxative use. This practice may throw off your body’s mineral balance in the blood and put the health of your heart at risk.

“Compulsive overeating” followed by “compulsive over exercising” is a pattern that is not as dangerous as anorexia and bulimia but still can lead to both physical and psychological problems. This is a pattern in which you will eat a large amount of food followed up immediately by exercising excessively hard and for a long period of time.

It is estimated that more than one out of three collage female athletes may at one time develop an eating disorder. If you suffer from an eating disorder, seek medical help as soon as possible because if left untreated, these disorders can cause permanent health problems and even death.

How to Develop a Happy and Healthy Workplace

    December 28th, 2008

    > Employees withhold 2/3 of what they are capable of contributing to a company in the form of talents, skills, experience, information and ideas.

    >Workers can’t help but be indifferent and apathetic when they are pursuing someone else’s objectives. Ownership is the key to corporate success and constructive change.

    >Trust employees with sensitive information. This doesn’t mean you share everything with them. It does mean that you keep them informed about what is going on and how it will effect them.

    > Give the people you lead meaningful input into destiny decisions.

    > If you are ever going to maximize corporate potential, you must do everything in your power to maximize human potential.

    > Your workers are your business. When you eliminate people problems, your business is bound to improve.

    > The chief task of a leader is to restore and maintain optimism, enthusiasm and morale.

    > If your team mission statement is to be credible and relevant, its vision and values must be more than a framed statement on the wall. There must be a constant challenge to become what we collectively say we are.

    > Who tells you honestly and openly what you need to know, but don’t want to hear? If the answer is ” No one” you are in trouble and so is your company, school, organization etc.

    > If there is a problem ,ask for solutions. Listen carefully, apply the suggestions given and suspend your own judgment. You will be surprised how quickly and effectively the problem gets solved without your dominant input.

    > If people are your greatest resource, then corporate behaviour must show it.

    > Treat the people you work with the way you want to be treated.

    > Mark Twain said that he could live contented for two months on one compliment. Compliment generously and genuinely.

    > Never take credit for another’s idea.

    > Never give out, “YOU ARE SPECIAL” buttons in an attempt to improve morale.

    > Encourage the people you lead to ask, “WHY” questions. Don’t be threatened by them.

    IT PAYS TO CARE!
